Mediterranean Turkey Meatball Bowls
These Mediterranean Turkey Meatball Bowls are a weeknight favorite at our house. With tons of spices, these meatballs are anything but boring. This dish is super easy to make, too! Plated with some sweet potatoes, roasted red peppers, lemony arugula, and feta, these Moroccan turkey meatball bowls are a dream.

I love taking dishes to another level with the use of tons of spices! In this recipe, we really spice up the ground turkey to make a dish that is restaurant quality. I serve mine with a salad, feta, sweet potatoes and roasted red peppers. BUT, the meatballs would also go deliciously with my Roasted Summer Vegetable Couscous.

Ingredients
- Ground turkey: the base of the meatballs! You can also very easily turn this into a turkey burger bowl.
- Red onion: to mix into the turkey of course!
- Lots of spices: a perfect blend of cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, cinnamon, ginger, and of course salt and pepper of choice.
- Sweet potatoes: sliced into fries, and roasted to perfection.
- Roasted red peppers: I use the kind straight from a jar but you are welcome to make your own!
- Feta cheese: one of my favorite cheeses. The tang goes so well with the spices in the burger. I prefer feta cheese from the brine, rather than pre-crumbled feta.
- Lemony arugula: a simple bed of lemony arugula for all the above to sit on.

Instructions for Mediterranean Spiced Turkey Meatball Bowls
- Preheat the oven to 425 F. Peel the sweet potato and slice into long, French fry-like pieces. Roast in the oven with some spices while we work on the turkey meatballs.
- Add the ground turkey, chopped red onion, and all the spices to a bowl and mix together. Either form into meatballs or burger patties. I have tried and loved both! Cook on a skillet.
- While cooking, prepare the bowls. Toss arugula with some fresh lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, and some salt. Add to your bowls with some feta cheese and sliced roasted red peppers.
- When the sweet potatoes and Mediterranean turkey meatballs are cooked through, add to the bowls and serve!

Substitutions and Variations
There is so much you can play around with on this bowl!
- Sauces – I like to add tzatziki or hummus to my bowls when I have them around!
- Meat – ground turkey can be substituted for ground chicken if needed
- Vegetables – sweet potatoes are one of my favorite foods so to me they are irreplaceable in this dish. But at your house, you make the rules! This dish would be great with other roasted vegetables like squash, zucchini, tomatoes, or eggplant.
- Spice – I am not big on spice, but if you are then feel free to add some cayenne to your meatballs! A little goes a long way, so know your palette preferences first!

Storage
The Mediterranean turkey meatballs can be stored in the fridge for up to five days. I would recommend storing the meatballs and sweet potatoes together, and the colder vegetables separate. That way you can easily reheat.

Mediterranean Turkey Meatball Bowls
Ingredients
Turkey Meatballs
- 1 lb ground turkey
- ¼ red onion chopped small
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon pepper of choice
- 2 teaspoon olive oil
Bowls
- 1 sweet potato peeled and sliced into fries
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 teaspoon olive oil separated
- ½ cup fresh feta cheese
- 1 roasted red bell peppers
- 4 cups arugula
- 1 lemon
- Olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Toss the sliced sweet potato with 2 teaspoon olive oil, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, ½ teaspoon cumin, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon. Add to a baking sheet and roast for about 25 minutes or until soft and fork-tender.
- Meanwhile, add all of the turkey meatball ingredients to a bowl and mix together with your hands or a spatula until all spices and the onion are evenly combined into the ground turkey. Form the ground turkey into either meatballs or burger patties (makes about 10 meatballs or 4 patties).
- To a skillet on medium heat, add 2 teaspoon olive oil. Once heated, add the meatballs or burger patties. For meatballs, cook for about 15 minutes total, rotating sides every 3-4 minutes until cooked through. For burger patties, cook for about 9 minutes total, 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through.
- Meanwhile, prepare the bowls. Toss the arugula with 2 teaspoon olive oil, the juice of 1 lemon, and salt/pepper to taste.
- To serve, add the salad to the bottom of your bowl. Then, add the roasted red bell peppers, crumbled feta cheese, and any other vegetables or sauces. Add the sweet potato “fries” and turkey meatballs or burgers. My favorite bite has a little bit of everything!
